A new Genshin Impact leak shows that Hu Tao, a Pyro user, might finally get a second chance in one of the next updates. The game’s developer, HoYoverse, has made it a habit to put two or three repeat banners in the same update.
Even the very popular Dendro Archon Nahida is paired with a rerun of Yoimiya, who uses a Pyro bow. Banner re-runs in Genshin Impact allow players to get older characters they might have missed in the past. Some characters, like Kaedehara Kazuha and Kamisato Ayaka, did much better on their second banner appearance, at least in terms of their overall sales.
Uncle Lu, a trusted Genshin Impact leaker, seems to have said that the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor will be shown again. She has skipped more banners than any other five-star character on the roster. This makes her the record holder.
Since she is said to be in 3.4, it’s safe to say that Hu Tao won’t be in the upcoming Genshin Impact update 3.3. This means she won’t have a banner appearance for ten updates in a row. Since she came out, Hu Tao has been considered an S-tier character with good Pyro use.

Hu Tao has a unique way of playing that requires players to learn a popular way to stop the animation on her Charged Attack, which is her primary source of damage. Based on how HoYoverse usually updates, Genshin Impact version 3.4 should come out around the middle of January next year. Some fans think that Hu Tao might show up in the second banner phase since the first part of the update will be about the Lantern Rite Festival, an annual event celebrating the Chinese New Year.
The main reason is that it is considered rude in Chinese culture to talk about death during this holiday, and Hu Tao’s character has much to do with this subject. This was also shown by the fact that when Hu Tao was first released in 1.3, developer HoYoverse put her on a third banner instead of a 15-day festival banner.
Leaks in the past have confirmed that version 3.4 will add a new character named Alhaitham, who is essential to the current story arc about Sumeru. He is a Dendro character, which has been confirmed, and players expect him to be the second DPS character after Tighnari to use this element.
